Job Skills/Requirements
Shawnee Christian Healthcare Center seeks a Full-time Check Out Coordinator to participate as strong team member with front office staff.
Answering phones, scheduling appointments and checking patients out.
Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with co-workers, patients, and the public.
Greet patients and visitors in prompt and courteous fashion.
Collect and update patient demographic and insurance information and make updates in the Electronic Health Record.
Collect insurance co-payments and balances from patients.
Perform related work as required.

High School Diploma
Have at least three years of work experience, preferably in a medical office setting.
Knowledge of business office procedures, ability to speak clearly and concisely, ability to read and understand written instructions.

Experience with Electronic Health Records and Patient Accounts Receivables preferred.

Additional Information/Benefits
Hours: Monday through Friday 8:30- 5:00pm, except one-day 10:30-7:00pm.

Outreach Worker

40 hours per week

$16-$24 per hour based on education and experience

General Statement of Duties: To support the Patient Centered Medical Home model by working with community members to increase access to affordable healthcare. The Outreach Worker conducts outreach and educational activities with an emphasis on assisting community members in enrollment in the Kentucky Health Benefits Exchange. The outreach Worker will be an integral member of the patient engagement and Neighborhood Transformation team and work closely with the clinical team to address barriers to accessing care.

Supervision Received: Reports to Director of Patient and Community Engagement

Supervision Exercised: None

Physical Demands: Requires full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 30 pounds. Requires normal visual acuity and hearing. Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.

Working Condition: Shawnee Christian Healthcare Center Inc. is a faith-based federally qualified community health center (FQHC). We provide primary health services to underserved, underinsured, and uninsured individuals in the southeastern Kentucky region. Our mission is to “serve God, serve People” regardless of ability to pay. The environment includes a primary outpatient community health center located in the Shawnee neighborhood. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Reasonable accommodations in the work environment may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The Outreach Worker position is funded through grant funds and continuation is contingent on these funds.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct outreach activities at local and regional events to educate and enroll eligible community members.
  2. Participate in trainings provided by the state related to enrollment in the Kentucky Health Benefits Exchange (KHBE) and pass appropriate certification exams.
  3. Conduct training for health center staff and other agency staff as requested.
  4. Assist qualified persons in enrollment and / or re-enrollment in the KHBE in-person and by phone.
  5. Accept referrals for assistance with enrollment and re-enrollment.
  6. Maintain all required documentation and submit monthly reports detailing outreach and enrollment efforts.
  7. Travel to consumer locations to assist with enrollment activities (i.e., home visits, other agencies, churches, etc.)
  8. Assist consumers in the appeals process when needed.
  9. Maintain a high level of consumer satisfaction.
  10. Assist consumers with referrals to health care resources within their community.
  11. Adhere to the SCHC Statement of Faith.

Performance Requirements Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong verbal and written communication skills. Competent in use of software including Excel and database management. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to work in a team-oriented environment. Ability to manage multiple assignments. Knowledge of community needs and initiatives and/or experience working in a community health setting. Preferred knowledge of local and regional resources for low-income and at-risk populations.

Education: Minimum of Associates degree in human services; Bachelor’s in social work or related field preferred.

Experience: Experience with public speaking and presentations.

Certificate/License: None required.

CPT Coder

Job Skills/Requirements
Shawnee Christian Healthcare Center seeks a part-time Certified Coder to review, analyze and code diagnostic and procedural information that determines Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance payments. Incumbent will be responsible for coding, charge entry, accounts receivable follow-up, and reimbursement management of medical, dental and behavioral health encounters.

Additional Information/Benefits
Qualifications & Requirements: Two years’ experience in medical office coding required; CPC Certificate at time of application or evidence it can be obtained within 6 months; knowledge of FQHC, dental, mental health and substance abuse coding preferred.

Current CPR certification. Strong communication skills. Skilled in operating a computer/Electronic Dental Record experience preferred.
